Well kids, we have survived the monster virus. Neither of my kids has ever been sick like this and for this long. Roman woke up puking Tuesday morning last week, and gave his final performance Saturday evening. So 5 grueling days of whiny, sick, clingy, pitiful toddler. I seriously hit my breaking point Saturday. The stress of Roman being sick AND getting my house ready for guests on Easter Sunday came to a head and I was ready to run away.
Thankfully I have a great husband who did his share of vomit and poop detail........he also got clung too at times by the pitiful sick boy. I'm so happy this wasn't one of his weeks away. I seriously would have went batty.......like padded cell batty.
Kailey & Roman had a good Easter......Roman was on the mend. The Easter Bunny was kind and didn't put TOO much candy in the baskets. I think he knew Roman couldn't stomach it just yet. Plus we have just gotten rid of the Valentine candy around here!
I made Easter dinner: Ham, sweet potato casserole, baked beans, deviled eggs and Bob just HAD to make sausage and peppers (gag).....my MIL made her infamous potato salad and brought a couple of cream pies and a cake. Yummo! We all stuffed ourselves and then sat around talking and laughing for hours. I love hearing stories about my husband's younger days.
While reminiscing about how we grew up and how we missed watching the classic cartoon's that we grew up with (Bugs Bunny mainly) where our kids are watching Japanese Anime on Saturday mornings, my husband and I along with his brothers realized that our children won't have the same kind of memories we do/did. All the bad haircuts at the hands of our mothers trying to save a few dollars......when eating out was a TREAT......roaming the neighborhood and cringing at the sound of our mom screeching to call us home for dinner. The world is such a different place now. And we are all still pretty young! I mean 30 isn't "old"?!
Thinking back to the things we did as kids......I can't imagine being OK with letting my kids do the majority of that. Either I'm way too paranoid or the world is a scarier place now.......maybe it's a combination of both.
As I sit and think about this, I take comfort in knowing that my kids will have the memories of things we do together as well as things they do with their friends.......not the same kind of "fun" that we had a kids......but fun none the less.
On road trips.....Bob, Kailey and I often get on the "Remember that time...." train and end up in hysterics over some of the things we have seen, done or even eaten (if you know us, we have alot of food memories/trips). There is a classic memory we all have that never fails to get us to roaring.......now I'm telling you this in the strictest of confidence.....if Bob knew I was telling you, he'd just die!
We often go to a seafood buffet out of town at a popular ski resort. Every time we have gone, we pass a restaurant that boasts of this lavish smorgasbord aka buffet. I would also ask Bob if he had eaten there and if it was any good. He said yes to both questions. However, I never thought of the place unless we were on our way to this wonderful seafood buffet and no way in hades I was going to pass up all you can eat lobster for a regular buffet!
Well, one day we decided we would just go and eat at this smorgasbord LOL. We get there and it's a nice enough place.....kind of country themed with knick knack things for sale in the waiting area. It was cozy. So we are seated and Kailey and I head up to the buffet while Bob sits with Roman. I wasn't impressed to say the least........have you ever seen the movie "Vegas Vacation"? LOL, yeah this place wasn't far from the buffet Chevy Chase and Randy Quaid visited in that movie..........we came back to the table and Bob went up. So we were chowing down and Bob had what appeared to be a nugget of fried fish on his plate. He grabbed it, dipped it in tarter sauce and then took a healthy bite of it............he promptly made a horrid face and said, "I don't think that was fish!" ROTFL.....turns out that in the "fish area" of the buffet, they also had a bin of breaded and fried BANANAS!!! How that has ANYTHING to do with fish and WHY they would have that in the same vicinity of fish is beyond me. But alas poor Bob fell victim to the misplacement of those fried bananas........I thought Kailey and I were going to choke at the table from laughing so hard. Poor Bob *snicker*
Hope that little story put a smile on your face! I know I had to fight the giggles just typing it out for you!! LOL Have a great week and make some memories!

I love sitting around and remembering old times and shows that we loved as a kid. I think the world is way scarier now, and I am sad that the kids now days don't get the same freedom and experiences we did!
I laughed at the banana story and think you should make fried bananas for Bob on April fools day! You and Kailey would get such a laugh!
ROFL - fried banana's huh? I had the seafood buffet Friday and almost texted you again - creme brulee - so worth the trip :)
