*setting the scene*
After a long day, I was laying in my bed after giving my son a much needed bath. I had sent him downstairs to get a diaper as I was getting him ready for bed.
Of course he didn't return right away due to the fact his sister was downstairs. He totally loves to hang with her.
Hey, I have no objections.....I was quite enjoying some quiet time (a rare occurrence in these parts) and the ability to actually hear the TV program I was watching.
Suddenly, I hear little feet bounding up the steps......the boy returns!
"I gotta go pee mom", he blurts as he runs into my room and into my bathroom.
My thoughts are #1 his little potty is not up here, so what the heck & then #2 he is just being his usual turd self and wants to mess around in my bathroom.
I'm laying on the bed and I start to hear what sounds like pee going into the potty.........I mute the TV.........OMG IT IS PEE GOING INTO THE POTTY!
I then proceed to jump off my bed (hahaha if you have any clue what kind of condition I am in you know this is merely a figure of speech......it was more like a turtle trying to roll itself back over.....but I digress) and see my son standing in front of the BIG POTTY gently putting the lid down and attempting to flush.
Immediately I push open the lid to see for myself this miracle........holy CRAP he really DID pee in there! Next I ask my boy to show me how in the heck he managed to pee in the potty all by himself.........*snort*..........he says, "Like this mom!" as he gives himself an extra inch by standing on his tip toes and shoving his little bottom forward. I LOST IT! I was laughing so hard! Then I went on and on about how he is SUCH a big boy........
I'm still in shock over this. Isn't it just amazing what these kids pick up? And then one day it clicks and they do something all on their own. No prompting. It's crazy!
Now I'm not saying he never saw this peeing on the potty standing up technique before.....Roman has always been welcome into the bathroom with his daddy LOL So he has seen the way big boys potty. I'm just in awe that this little boy retained that information and put it to use on his own like he did.
*sigh* My baby boy really is growing up!
So tonight my friends, I add another proverbial notch on the potty training belt!
