Wow.....it's Sunday night ALREADY?! What happened to the weekend man?! I swear they are never long enough for me. Even when Kailey has a 3-day weekend, it's not enough LOL. Tomorrow is President's Day, but Kailey has school for a snow make up day. Bummer. But I guess I'm ready to tackle a new week after a pretty darn good weekend!
Saturday was my husbands 34th birthday :D We, along with 7 other members of his family, decided to hit a new restaurant in Pittsburgh. It is called "Buca di beppo". It's family style Italian fare with a pretty neat ecclectic decor. We made reservations for 9 at 7:00pm. My neice and her husband decided to join as well, so we added 2 more. In doing so, we had to wait a lil bit longer for a table. No biggie. When we finally got called, the hostess was kind enough to take the precious birthday cake I had drove 1/2 an hour each way for from me and put our table number on it. They kept it in the kitchen until we finished dinner so we didn't have to deal with it while we ate. The menu was a bit overwhelming, since it was family style everyone was worried about ordering too much LOL. We had a fabulous and PATIENT waiter....everyone ordered and I absolutely LOVED my chicken marsala :D
The waiter cleared our plates and then I gave him the "3" & "4" candles to put on the cake to bring out. I opened up the "Happy Birthday" plates and Bob started to open his gifts. He had opened the last present and the co-owner of the restaurant came to the table, "Can I please have a word with Kelly?"........oh shit, they dropped the damn cake (my first thought) LOL......well I told him I couldn't get out as I am huge and pregnant and in a booth with a wall on one side and 4 other people, including my also very PG neice on the other. So he took a deep breath and said, "While we were getting your cake ready, another waiter in the kitchen dropped a wine glass and it shattered. We saw glass go up in the air and can't be sure that none went on your cake."........I think my face turned pale......this was not a run of the mill grocery store cake now. I got this from our favorite bakery 1/2 an hour from where we live......I drove an HOUR round trip for a CAKE! And to top it, I have been craving this particular bakery birthday cake for at least a month!! *sigh* The owner continued saying that he was so so sorry and that they would bring the cake out with the candles so Bob could make his wish (he wished we could have ate that damn cake LOL) and we could take pictures.....but then he would take the cake away to *sniff* dispose of it *sniff* and send us 2 of the restaurant's celebration cakes (which aren't even on the menu...whoopdie LOL). They brought out these celebration cakes and let me tell you, they were quite impressive. They were red velvet caked with rich cream cheese icing and I noticed there were these green specks all around the outside edge......*sigh*.......me to the waiter, "Can you please tell me if these are nuts?".........for those of you who don't know, my sweet little Roman is for SURE allergic to peanut butter. We have not had him tested to see if he is also allergic to tree nuts (fyi peanuts aren't really a 'nut', they are legumes that grow out of the ground and some people are allergic to them but not allergic to tree nuts like walnuts, almonds, etc.) - but we just stay away from them to be safe. Especially when we are out of town and I don't know the quickest route to an ER LOL. Yes they were nuts *groan*......so the owner again comes over and apologizes profusely LOL......I'm feeling sorry for the guy at this point! He then goes to the kitchen and brings a peice of chocolate cake, I swear, the size of Roman's head AND a big bowl of vanilla ice cream. Well of course Roman is happier than a tornado in a trailer park and has no problem getting skipped when I serve the other cake LOL So the evening ended on a good note, and Bob had a great evening which is all that matters. Oh and he will be making a trip to that special bakery this week for another cake *wink*
Today I went to my friend Rachel's purse/spa party! So yeah I drove to Pittsburgh again LOL But it was soooo worth it! There was a woman who had loads of Coach, Gucci, Dooney, Fendi knock off purses PLUS Rachel's SIL sells some nice spa products and had a nice sampling for everyone to try. Not to mention the YUMMY snacks they served.....Rachel, your lil meatballs and veggie pizza were AWESOME. I'm SO wishing I had a 2nd helping of each LOL I found a really nice BIG Coach bag that I will use for a diaper bag once the little one comes. It will be a sad day for me to put my current Coach bag in it's dust cover, as it's not quite big enough to hold everything you need to have for a newborn. But she will come out every now and then when I get the chance to escape sans baby :D
Thanks for inviting me Rach, I had a great time and the company & conversations were just as great as the purses!!
So that was my weekend in a nutshell.....busy yes, but it was a great one! Off to get ready to tackle what this new week has in store :D

I about fell out of my chair laughing at "happy as a tornado in a trailer park". Why have I not heard that one before?
